Ken Marlon Charles known as KMC, is among the most progressive recording artists to come out of the Caribbean in the past decade. He became a household name across the region with his first hit song "Bashment To Carnival", in 1998.
Coming from the remote part of southern Trinidad from a little town called Rio Claro, KMC has the unique ability to spit lyrics freestyle which contributed to him developing into a skilled songwriter. After a couple years in the music business he also developed into a creative music producer that incorporates elements of dancehall, hip hop, rock and EDM into his songs always creating a unique sound. That new spirited sound led to the monster 2005 hit "Soul On Fire" a groovy soca song that became an instant hit across the Caribbean.
The song also earned KMC his first US recording contract with Ultra Rec topped the local charts in Trinidad , Grenada, St Vincent, Barbados, Toronto, London and France. The remix version featuring Beenie Man and Fatman Scoop peaked at #67 on the billboard singles chart which open many doors for KMC touring all over the globe even to places where soca music hasn't reach before his arrival…leading to collaborations with other big names such as Cash Money Records' co-founder and Rapper "Birdman"; Pop Star "Mohombi"; Dancehall Acts Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer and Shabba Ranks.
While on an European tour in 2010, KMC was introduce to some producers from Sweden by the name of Jamtech Foundation who took him to their studio to vibes on some tracks and that's when KMC came up with a song called "Everybody Jump". After recording the song that very same night KMC sang the song for over 85,000 club goers and got a very massive response. His performance was videotaped and ended up in the hands of "RedOne" the #1 producer in the world at that time. RedOne heard the song and immediately sign the Trinidadian born artist.
RedOne recorded 25 songs for KMC. That's where he developed that EDM sound, by learning how to produce and lyrically flow on those tracks. After waiting 3 years for Universal Records to put out his music, KMC decided to path ways with the label. He is now in the USA, focusing on taking his career to the next level independently with his new single called "Club On Fire" which is definitely a club banger.
Having made significant impact in selected destinations across the world, KMC is seeking to make a major impact on the global mainstream.
